ASUAF Recap: Hot dogs incite fierce debate

Senators present: Lachlan Gilispie, Colby Freel, Jonathan Quiñones, Erik Rickards, Mitchell Davidson, Chris Hoch, Eli Barry-Garland, Matt Harris, Kayleen Hansen, Allyssia Garcia.

Cameras for the Sun Star: A bill regarding the assistance of ASUAF in providing Sun Star with funds to purchase new cameras was presented by Senator Barry-Garland and sent to the Student Affairs Committee for further deliberation.

Barbeque Supplys: A bill dictating allocations of funds to be used for an ASUAF barbeque was presented by Senator Barry-Garland and sent to the Public Relations Committee.

Agenda: A resolution dedicated to changing minor formatting issues with the ASUAF weekly agendas was presented by Senator Barry-Garland and sent to the Internal Affairs Committee.

SRC Storage Funding: A bill allocating up to $22,950 from the Senate Rollover fund to be given to the Department of Recreation, Adventure and Wellness program for use in purchasing new club storage systems for the SRC was passed with a vote of  10-0-1.

Minimum Contingencies: A bill aiming to reduce the amount that each committee chair receives in a personal committee contingencies was passed with a vote of 8-4-0.

Clinical-Community Psychology Program’s Cultural Experiences Event: A bill requesting up to $2,000 from the senate rollover fund for use in funding the psychology program’s cultural experiences event was passed with a unanimous vote.

Fencing Club Funding: A bill meant to provide up to $2,430 in funding for the fencing club to purchase new gear and equipment was unanimously passed.

Corn Dogs: After much debate and many attempted amendments, a bill meant to allocate funding within the ASUAF for the use in purchasing corn dogs that would be free to the public within the office was sent back the Public Relations Committee to be further discussed and to have the appropriate amendments reflected in a new version of the bill.

Reforming the Staff and Faculty Awards: A bill outlining the process in which ASUAF will provide awards of recognition to staff and faculty was passed unanimously.
