Though only the public relations committee was able to meet this past week, the ASUAF senate was able to unanimously pass SR 185-001, a resolution bill that details the senate’s wish to declare support of the Fairbanks North Star Borough Board’s decision to recognize the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples’ day, as well as place a bill detailing the finer points of ASUAF’s bylaws regarding employment into the Internal affairs committee.
Senate Chair Jonathan Quiñones called this Sunday’s meeting to order at 4 p.m. in room 208 of the Gruening building. After adopting both sets of previous meetings minutes with a vote of 7-0-1, the senate moved into officer reports. Chair Quiñones claimed 12 hours over the past week, primarily spent interviewing and selecting the new senate clerk. President Mathew Carrick claimed nine hours over the past week and six for the week before that working on ASUAF’s presence at starvation gulch, as well as meeting with the coalition of student leaders. Though Vice President Colby Freel was unable to report hours this week, new Government Relations Director Leslie Drumhiller was able to spend 10 1/2 hours over the past week working towards setting up a job shadow program within town.
After a final mention from President Carrick about the possibility of an Apple Store being moved into the Wood Center space that Polar Perk was previously occupying, Chair Quiñones adjourned the meeting at 4:35 p.m.
